There are two types of accounts. Which one you should use depends on whether you need a SURFdrive profile for yourself or you need to work together within SURFdrive with someone who is using the service.

Personal account:
The first step is to create an account. Educational and research institutions purchase SURFdrive and manage user access. If your institution purchases SURFdrive and also grants you access, you can easily log in to SURFdrive via SURFconext. So please contact the IT Helpdesk of your institution for more information.

You can access your data with your own institutional account. You can access SURFdrive from all common computers, tablets and smartphones based on Windows, Linux, OS X, iOS and Android.

Guest account:
Do you want to collaborate on documents with someone who has a SURFdrive account, but you don't?
Your collaboration partner can then invite you for a so-called SURFdrive guest account. You use this to log in to SURFdrive via the eduID provider.
